The Water and Whiskey Anti-Gravity Switcheroo

Speaking of learning the magic of science via alcohol, here’s the kind of trick they teach in Bartender School.

This one happens with the help of the only liquid in the known universe with more magical properties than water: whiskey. Pour a shot glass full of whiskey, and another full of water. Slap a playing card over the water, and turn it over on top of the whiskey, like so.

Pull the card aside slightly, and the water and whiskey, instead of mixing, will neatly switch places:

This does require some patience though, since the whole thing can take 10 minutes or more.

It works because whiskey is 40 percent alcohol, which is less dense than water. When the water glass is inverted and the card is moved to allow a tiny gap, the water trickles through, unseen. The whiskey, being lighter, is forced out of the lower glass into the upper. Scientists compare it to the jocks kicking the nerds out of the dorm in Revenge of the Nerds.

Make Instant Snow From Boiling Water

This one requires it to be really, really freaking cold outside. Like way colder than it probably gets where you live. But get a day way below zero, boil a cup of water, and toss it into the air. The results are as cool as shit:

If it gets to be 30 degrees Fahrenheit or so below zero, the water vapor will freeze instantly. That’s
why the water has to be boiling, as the vapor has a much higher surface-to-mass ratio (the same reason you will freeze to death slower than say, a mouse).

All of those little heated particles of water cool very rapidly when exposed to super cold air, forming ice crystals in an instant. BUT ONLY IF IT IS COLD ENOUGH.

We do the all caps there because once again we fear somebody going out on what’s considered a cold day in California (say, 60 degrees) and tossing a pot of boiling water toward their friends. And then suing us.

Here is a trick that works on the same principle but doesn’t require you to live in Minnesota. And the results are actually just as bizarre.

You may have even seen this principle in action before, if you have ever felt the gut-wrenching sadness associated with putting a beer in the freezer to cool it down quickly, only to forget it for three hours. It looks fine when you pull it out, but when you open it you find flat-beer flavored slush has instantly formed inside.

1:Manuel Uribe: Lost almost 1000 pounds

One of the most heartwarming diet, health, and weight loss stories that has been ongoing since January 2006 is the effort being undertaken by former half-ton man Manuel Uribe, aka "The World's Heaviest Man," to lose almost 1,000 pounds and save his life. Manuel Uribe Garza (born June 11, 1965) is a man from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, and was one of the heaviest people in medical history. After reaching a peak weight of around 597 kg (1,316 lb) and being unable to leave his bed since 2001, Uribe lost considerable weight with the help of doctors and nutritionists, and by following the Zone diet.

Uribe drew worldwide attention when he appeared on the Televisa television network in January 2006, but turned down offers for gastric surgery in Italy. In March 2007, Uribe set a goal to lower his weight to 120 kg (265 lb). He has also been featured on "World's Heaviest Man", a television documentary about his bedridden life and attempts to lose weight. By the end of 2008, Uribe had reduced his weight to 360 kg (800 lb). His weight loss efforts continue to this day.

2:David Smith: Lost 400 pounds and became a personal trainer

This is an amazing weight loss success story of a former 630-pound man named David Smith. In 2003, David weighted over 600 pounds and decided to change his life only through carb cycling and exercise. After 4 years, he weighted a stunning 229 pounds, losing 401 pounds but still had excess skin on his body. Rosalie Bradford (1943 - 2006) holds the Guinness World Record for most weight lost by a woman. In 1987, the longtime binge-eater weighed an astounding 1,199 lb, having spent 8 years immobile in bed. Following an intervention from friends and weight-loss guru Richard Simmons she started exercising as best she could (she could only clap her hands to Simmons' videos at first) and amazingly eventually slimmed down to about 200 lb.

Sadly enough, in one of the five sessions of surgery to remove excess skin during her weight loss, she had some complications that later caused her death. She died on November 29, 2006 at a hospital in Lakeland at the age of 63. Rosalie Bradford posthumously continues to hold the world record for having lost the most weight.

4:John Stone: Wanted to lose his beer belly and became a bodybuilder

John Stone is an internet legend. This man fell into a pattern familiar to many people: being reasonably athletic at some point and then gradually letting it all go, so in 2003 he decided to make a few major changes, establishing a fairly tough goal: to lose his beer-belly. He began weight training and put on over 50 pounds of muscle in the years since, lowering his body fat even further. Residing in Canada, Rob is now healthy, muscular, and follows a healthy eating plan and exercise routine.

6:Jon Brower Minnoch: Lost 22kg per month

Jon Brower Minnoch was born in 1941 and held the record of the world's largest man. At his peak in 1978 Jon Brower Minnoch tipped the scales at an estimated 635 kilograms or 1397 pounds. He had to be hospitalized.

After following a strict diet plan, Jon Brower Minnoch (USA), reduced to 216 kg (34 st) by July 1979, thus indicating a weight loss of at least 419 kg (66 st) in 16 months. This averages at 22.05 kg (3 st 9 lbs or 57.75 lbs) a month!

The diet consisted of just 1,200 calories a day. Sadly, though, by October 1981, the former taxi driver had put on over 89 kg (34 st), undoing all his good work. Jon Brower Minnoch passed away on September 10, 1983 weighing 362 kilograms or 796 pounds.

7:Michael Hebranko: former heaviest man on earth down seized to 90 kg

Michael Hebranko (b. May 14, 1953) suffered from an extreme case of morbid obesity, known to be among the heaviest people in the world.

After a stay at the St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, he dropped his weight from 411 kg (910 lb) to 90 kg (200 lb) and waist size from 290 cm (110 in) to 91 cm (36 in) in 19 months with the help of the dieting and exercise coach Richard Simmons and was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest recorded weight loss in 1990. He lost some of this weight from surgical removal of fat. He then toured the United States lecturing about his experiences and advocating dieting and exercise and appeared in infomercials promoting Richard Simmons.

However, seven years later, he gained up to 453 kg (1,000 lb) and had to be repeatedly hospitalized to the Brookhaven Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. In June 1999, Hebranko was at his peak weight of 500 kg (1,100 lb).

8:Steve Vaught: Started a cross country walk to lose weight

Steve Vaught undertook an incredible challenge beginning in 2005: to walk across the US. He began the 3,000-mile trek from his Oceanside, California home to Manhattan on April 10, 2005, when he weighed 410 pounds and was suffering severe depression after accidentally killing two pedestrians while driving 15 years ago.

Apart from attracting his fair share of media attention, he managed to shed over 100 lb in the process. But Vaught's journey was not without controversy. Questions were raised by both the media and fans as to whether Vaught caught rides and did not in fact walk every mile. Vaught was also still morbidly obese upon completion of his journey. In his defense he claims "You can't cheat. There is no possible way to cheat. It was my journey (…) I didn't care about where I was at and where I was going. I don't care if it was 2,800 or 1,500 miles. . . . It's about where your head is."

Typically, the children in horror movies are either the unwilling messengers of doom or are evil themselves. Either way, the dialogue these kids have to spout is usually pretty eerie and often not something you’d want to hear coming out of the mouths of babes.

Here’s a look at 9 chilling quotes spoken by children in some of our favorite horror/thriller films.

Poltergeist

“They’re here …”

Is there any more classic moment than when Carol Anne turns away from the static TV and says to Craig T. Nelson, “They’re here”? The sing-song delivery, the creepy little toe-headed kid, everything about the scene is unnerving. The reality of what happened to Poltergeist star Heather O’Rourke only adds to the enduring scariness. The sad thing is that the scene is now being used to sell cable TV, which seems a crass and careless way to tread on someone’s memory.

The Sixth Sense

“I see dead people.”

Of course, the most famous of the creepy little kids of the last decade is Haley Joel Osmet in The Sixth Sense, when he imparted those famous words to Bruce Willis, “I see dead people.” Coming at about the midway point of the film, those four little words explain what has been going on in the film, and opens the door for the much larger surprise that comes at the end. A lot of people would argue that writer/director M. Night Shyamalan has been making the same film ever since and that none of his other films have lived up to the promise of that first success, but if nothing else, he has given us one of the most memorable film experiences ever.

The Shining
“Redrum.”

While Jack Nicholson’s psychotic axe-wielding family man Jack Torrance managed to scare the crap out of us — and has one of the greatest movies lines ever with “Here’s Johnny!” — it was really Jack’s young son Danny who had the most chilling scenes of the film. In this Stanley Kubrick adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel, a writer takes a job as the winter caretaker at what turns out to be a haunted hotel. After Jack, his wife, and their young son Danny move into the hotel, it’s revealed that the young boy has “the shining,” an ability to see ghosts. Eventually, Danny begins to repeatedly chant “redrum” in a deep voice while holding a knife in one hand while writing the word in red lipstick on a door with the other — that’s creepy enough. It becomes even more chilling when we find out what “redrum” actually means.

The Exorcist
“You’re gonna die up there.”

There are so many chilling and iconic moments packed into Linda Blair’s performance as the possessed Regan MacNeil that choosing just one singular moment is pretty difficult. Nearly every moment of dialogue that takes place between Father Karras and Regan during the Exorcism scenes are far beyond mere disturbing. Most of the gems concern Karras’s mother, like “Your mother’s in here, Karras. Would you like to leave a message? I’ll see that she gets it.” and the infamous “Your mother sucks cocks in Hell…”, or even parroting his Mother’s dementia-filled agony with “Why you do this to me, Dimi? Please Dimi, I’m afraid.” Yet for me the creepiest bit in the film takes place before the actual possession at her mom’s cocktail party. Amid the festivities of a piano-fueled singalong Regan pulls a true show-stopper when after being put to bed she returns to the party and sidles up to an Astronaut (we should all have one Astronaut buddy). In a monotonous deadpan Regan say “You’re gonna die up there.” followed by her letting loose a load of piss on the rug. Now, a little girl in pajamas telling a spaceman he’s gonna be orbital toast the day before his launch is eerie enough, but that piss-filled encore takes the moment beyond mere creepy and into utra-disturbing territory.

Interview With The Vampire
“I promise I’ll get rid of the bodies.”

Little Claudia (Kirsten Dunst) is a beautiful girl perfectly dressed and coiffed, just like the numerous dolls that decorate her room. But she’ll never be truly happy, because she’s a child vampire who’ll live forever, yet never grow into a woman. This is the one thing she desires — so much so, amongst her dolls she hides the corpse of a female victim she wanted to emulate, which prompts a heated argument with her “father” and maker Lestat (Tom Cruise). Seemingly to make up for the fight, little Claudia brings Lestat twin boys to fed on, concealing that the boys are already dead — and drinking from the dead is a big vampire no-no. To coax Lestat to drink, Claudia so sweetly says “I promise I’ll get rid of the bodies.” Lestat takes the bait, which allows Claudia to finish him off. This “child” may seem innocent and look like a little angel, but underneath it all, she’s the deadliest of them all.

The Good Son
“Mom, I need your other hand.”

Macaulay Culkin was on a meteoric rise in the early 1990s with the success of the first two Home Alone movies, so it might not have been the best idea for the child star to headline the 1993 thriller The Good Son as the “bad son.” Culkin’s Henry goes far beyond spilling some milk. He’s an innocent-looking boy with malicious intent and no conscience. He will harm with no remorse. The film’s climatic scene is truly a cliffhanger: After trying to kill his own mother, Susan, Henry hangs from a cliff alongside his “good” cousin Mark (Elijah Wood). Holding one boy in each hand, Susan tries to pull them both to safety when Henry tells her, “Mom, I need your other hand” leaving Susan with the dilemma of who to save — her innocent nephew or her evil son?

Damien: Omen II
“Why? Why me?”

The 1970s loved to pair children with the devil, as we saw with The Exorcist. But with The Omen, instead of the child being possessed by the Devil, this 1976 horror film centered around the spawn of Satan — the Antichrist. While the original film was frightening enough, Satan’s son Damien was just a small child who didn’t say much. But in the 1978 sequel, Damien still doesn’t know of his true nature, until he begins to come of age and starts to feel a change. When he finds out that the AntiChrist has a 666 birthmark, he checks his scalp and discovers he has it. As horrifying as the gruesome deaths in the movie were, it’s Damien’s discovery of his true Satanic heritage — complete with an anguished “Why me?” — that’s truly
bone-chilling.

Pet Semetary
“I brought you something, Mommy.”

For me personally, it does not get any more terrifying than adorable little Gage from Pet Semetary. If the horror of your baby son being hit by a speeding 18-wheeler isn’t enough to begin with, this little one is buried in then that wacky cemetery. A little bit of Monkey’s Paw later, well, we all know what happens there… back comes little Gage, only quite different now. That kid, with his little outfits and his knife and tiny high-pitched voice is enough to make me weep, especially when he’s bringing a knife to his mother, saying “I brought you something, Mommy” as if it will be a sweet surprise for her.

Children of the Corn

“He wants you too, Malachai.”

Let’s face it, the entire premise of Children of the Corn and its numerous sequels is one big creepy-children horror fest, from its brainwashed children with pitchforks chanting “KILL!” to its charismatic child leader Isaac and his eerie preaching about the evil god of corn known as “He Who Walks Behind the Rows.” While driving through Nebraska, Linda Hamilton and the guy from 30 Something have a run-in with the murderous children who sacrifice adults to the evil corn god. When Isaac has a disagreement with his right-hand man Malachai, the latter has Isaac crucified as a sacrifice to their god. As Isaac awaits death on the corn cross, he spouts off about how he is the giver of “His” word and how the children will pay for their treachery and disobedience to Isaac’s teachings. After his death, in true biblical form, Isaac is resurrected. Looking like he just put his finger in an electrical socket, the prophet Isaac returns to bring vengeance from their God to Malachai. In a possessed voice, the young Isaac tells his betrayer, “He wants you too, Malachai.”

With so many superhero movies around, such as Spiderman or Hulk, we are used to see people with special abilities in fiction. But people with amazing abilities actually do exist in real life; here's a list of 10 of the most amazing of these people!

1:The Incredible Brain (Daniel Tammet)
Daniel Paul Tammet is a British high-functioning autistic savant gifted with a facility for mathematical calculations, sequence memory, and natural language learning. He was born with congenital childhood epilepsy. Experiencing numbers as colors or sensations is a well-documented form of synesthesia, but the detail and specificity of Tammet's mental imagery of numbers is unique. In his mind, he says, each number up to 10,000 has its own unique shape and feel, that he can "see" results of calculations as landscapes, and that he can "sense" whether a number is prime or composite. He has described his visual image of 289 as particularly ugly, 333 as particularly attractive, and pi as beautiful. Tammet not only verbally describes these visions, but also creates artwork, particularly watercolor paintings, such as his painting of Pi.

Tammet holds the European record for memorising and recounting pi to 22,514 digits in just over five hours. He also speaks a variety of languages including English, French, Finnish, German, Spanish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Estonian, Icelandic, Welsh and Esperanto. He particularly likes Estonian, because it is rich in vowels. Tammet is creating a new language called Mänti. Tammet is capable of learning new languages very quickly. To prove this for the Channel Five documentary, Tammet was challenged to learn Icelandic in one week. Seven days later he appeared on Icelandic television conversing in Icelandic, with his Icelandic language instructor saying it was "not human."

2:The Boy with Sonar Vision (Ben Underwood)

Ben Underwoodtaught is blind, both of his eyes were removed (cancer) when he was 3. Yet, he plays basketball, rides on a bicycle, and lives a quite normal life. He taught himself to use echo location to navigate around the world. With no guide-dogs, he doesn't even need hands: he uses sound. Ben makes a short click sound that bounces back from objects. Amazingly, his ears pick up the ecos to let him know where the objects are. He's the only person in the world who sees using nothing but eco location, like a sonar or a dolphin.

3:The Rubberboy (Daniel Browning Smith)

Five time Guiness Record holder, The Rubberboy is the most flexible man alive and the most famous contortionist. He has been in many professional basketball or baseball games and on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ESPN's Sports Center, Oprah Winfrey, Ripley's Believe It or Not, Cirque du Soleil, Best Damn Sports Show Period, The Discovery Channel, Men in Black 2, HBO's Carnivale, and CSI: NY and American got a talent. He dislocates his arms to crawl through an unstrung tennis racquet. He performs contortion handstands and unique acrobatics.

4:Mister Eat-it-All (Michel Lotito)

Michel Lotito (born 1950) is a French entertainer, famous as the consumer of undigestables, and is known as Monsieur Mangetout (Mister Eat-it-all). Lotito's performances are the consumption of metal, glass, rubber and so on in items such as bicycles, televisions, a Cessna 150, and smaller items which are disassembled, cut-up and swallowed. The aircraft took roughly two years to be 'eaten' from 1978 to 1980. He began eating unusual material while a child and has been performing publicly since 1966. Lotito does not often suffer from ill-effects due to his diet, even after the consumption of materials usually considered poisonous. When performing he consumes around a kilogram of material daily, preceding it with mineral oil and drinking considerable quantities of water during the 'meal'. He apparently possesses a stomach and intestine with walls of twice the expected thickness, and his digestive acids are, allegedly, unusually powerful, allowing him to digest a certain portion of his metallic meals

Battle of Antietam

The Battle of Antietam (also known as the Battle of Sharpsburg, particularly in the South), fought on September 17, 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland, and Antietam Creek, as part of the Maryland Campaign, was the first major battle in the American Civil War to take place on Northern soil. It was the bloodiest single-day battle in American history, with almost 23,000 casualties.

Battle of Fredericksburg

The Battle of Fredericksburg, fought in and around Fredericksburg, Virginia, on December 13, 1862, between General Robert E. Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia and the Union Army of the Potomac, commanded by Maj. Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside, is remembered as one of the most one-sided battles of the American Civil War. The Union Army suffered terrible casualties in futile frontal assaults against entrenched Confederate defenders on the heights behind the city, bringing to an early end their campaign against the Confederate capital of Richmond.

Battle of Chancellorsville

The Battle of Chancellorsville was a major battle of the American Civil War, fought near the village of Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia, from April 30 to May 6, 1863. Called General Robert E. Lee's "perfect battle" because of his risky but successful division of his army in the presence of a much larger enemy force, the battle pitted Union Army Maj. Gen. Joseph Hooker's Army of the Potomac against an army half its size, Lee's Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. Lee's audacity and Hooker's timid performance in combat combined to result in a significant and embarrassing Union defeat. The Confederate victory was tempered by the mortal wounding of Lt. Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson to friendly fire, a loss that Lee likened to "losing my right arm."

The Battle of Gettysburg (July 1 – July 3, 1863), fought in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of the Gettysburg Campaign, was the bloodiest battle of the American Civil War and is frequently cited as the war's turning point. Union Major General George Gordon Meade's Army of the Potomac defeated attacks by Confederate General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, ending Lee's invasion of the North.

Battle of Pea Ridge

The Battle of Pea Ridge (also known as Elkhorn Tavern) was a land battle of the American Civil War, fought on March 7 and March 8, 1862, at Pea Ridge in northwest Arkansas, near Bentonville. In the battle, Union Army forces led by General Samuel R. Curtis defeated Confederate troops under General Earl Van Dorn. The outcome of the battle essentially cemented Union control of Missouri. One notable fact of this battle is that it was one of the few in which a Confederate Army outnumbered a Union Army.

Battle of Chickamauga

The Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 18 to September 20, 1863, marked the end of a Union offensive in south-central Tennessee and northwestern Georgia called the Chickamauga Campaign. The battle was the most significant Union defeat in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. The battle was fought between the Union Army of the Cumberland under Maj. Gen. William Rosecrans and the Confederate Army of Tennessee under General Braxton Bragg, and was named for the (now South) Chickamauga Creek, which flows into the Tennessee River about 3.5 miles (5.6km) northeast of downtown Chattanooga. Chickamauga was a local Indian word meaning "Stagnant River" or, less accurately, "River of Death," usage that may have begun after the battles.

Battle of Perryville

The Battle of Perryville, also known as Battle at Perryville and Battle of Chaplin Hills, was an important but largely neglected encounter in the American Civil War. It was fought on October 8, 1862, in the Chaplin Hills west of Perryville, Kentucky. The battle began with a middle-of-the-night skirmish over a source of drinking water, and ended more or less by default with the onset of darkness and the retreat of the tactical victor, the Confederates. The Confederate "victory" marked the end of their last offensive campaign in the West, and their retreat left the border state of Kentucky under the control of the Union Army for the rest of the war.

Battle of Shiloh

The Battle of Shiloh, also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, was a major battle in the Western Theater of the American Civil War, fought on April 6 and April 7, 1862 in southwestern Tennessee. Confederate forces under Generals Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T. Beauregard launched a surprise attack against the Union army of Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and came close to defeating his army. Gen. Johnston was killed during the first day's fighting, and Beauregard, his second in command, decided against assaulting the final Union position that night. Reinforcements from Gen. Buell arrived in the evening and turned the tide the next morning, when he and Grant launched a counterattack along the entire line. The Confederates were forced to retreat from the bloodiest battle in United States history up to that time, ending their hopes that they could block the Union invasion of northern Mississippi.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seem to be having some couple issues. Angie's been working long hours on the set of her latest movie Salt and Brad is having a hard time caring for their six children and not getting enough attention from her. According to sources, and apparently Angelina is upset with Brad's drinking. Sounds like a recipe for disaster!

Friends are afraid the mega-star couple are headed for a nasty breakup and if it goes to court, Brad will ask for full custody of their six kids.

It seems the fairytale romance is almost over - Brad is upset because Angie won't spend time with him or marry him, and Angelina is not thrilled when she arrives home from work to find Brad drinking.

It recently came to a head when Angelina arrived home to find Brad drinking beer, and watching a DVD while their children caused chaos elsewhere in the house.

The Hotelicopter - First Giant Flying Hotel in the World

If you cannot afford buying a private jet then it would be interesting for you to know that American engineers recently unveiled the Hotelicopter concept, which is, in fact, a heavy lift aircraft transformed into a flying hotel equipped with 4 stores and 18 rooms.

The aircraft was constructed according to the model of the Soviet Mi V-12, which was the largest helicopter ever built. It is worth mentioning in 1960 the Soviet engineers created only 2 prototypes of the aircraft.

According to the Hotelicopter company, it acquired one of the upper mentioned Soviet prototypes in 2004 and now its flying hotel is ready for the first flight, which will take place on June 26th.

Although the computer generated images of the Hotelicopter are really stunning, showing that its designers surely had a lot of imagination, the aircraft's Maximum Takeoff Weight of 105,850 kg (232,870 lb) is just the same as that of the initial prototype Mi V-12. This means that there's little chance that the Hotelicopter can have a three story luxury hotel added onto it.

The Hotelicopter site features a design of the aircraft, with information saying that the flying 5-star hotel can boast soundproofed rooms, each featuring queen-sized bed, fine linens, a mini-bar, coffee machine, wireless internet access, and a long list of luxurious appointments one would probably not expect from such a machine.

As for the original Mi V-12, then it should be mentioned that the Soviet aircraft was really huge, bigger than any other heavy lift helicopter currently in use. Note that each rotor of the flying giant had a diameter of about 115 ft (35 meters). All rotors were mounted at the end of a large wing.

On August 6, 1969, two Soviet V-12s carried out a successful flight, setting a helicopter heavy lift world record, which is 44,205 kg (88,636 lb) at a height of 2,255 meters (7,398 feet). They did not make it into the mass production due to the fact that they were hard to maneuver.

The Hotelicopter company announced that it's giant flying hotel will perform its inaugural flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport on June 26, 2009.

Here is the couple in conversation after the fabulous win..

How do you feel after winning Nach?
Both: To be honest, the feeling is yet to sink in. It will take time. We have really worked hard for the last three months. We humbly thank the audience and the judges for their immense love and support.

What was going through your mind when the safe with the result was brought?
Shaleen: I just felt that I should steal the safe and run away (laughs). This way nobody would be a loser. For the past 2-3 days, all we were doing was just praying to God, that he should make us win.

Daljit: The wait was killing; they were just stretching it unnecessarily. Now the first thing we will do is go to Gurdwara and thank God for making our dream come true.

At first when you entered Nach, did you guys think that you can win?
Shaleen: No, we were confident that we would do well. But we did not think that we would go so far. Having said that, we really broke our backs in rehearsals, and that helped our doctors to make good money (grins).

Now that you mentioned money, how much importance do you pay to Rs 50 lac prize booty?
Daljit: It would be wrong to say that money is not important. It's all the more sweet, for we won it through our sweat and brow.

Daljit, Punjab has literally stood up for you and voted.
I thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for their massive support. We plan to go to Golden Temple to offer our thanks very soon.

Your take on the judges?
Both: All the three have been very supportive. If ever Farah mam was strict, it was for our good. The fact that Karisma wept when we did bad moved us a lot. Arjun's advice was always spot on.

Life after Nach?
It does seem empty. It's quite sad that the unit guys are dismantling the set right in front of our eyes though.

We have heard that you might do one more dance reality show?
Let's see, for the moment, we are enjoying this phase!!

How has Nach helped you to come closer as a couple?
This phase gave us the opportunity to assess each other's good and bad points. Now we are dead sure that we will be happy together for the rest of our life. Happy is the operative word here.

So when will the wedding bells ring?
Shaleen: Now we have danced enough. Whenever our elders tell us that they are ready to dance at our wedding, it will take place.

Mehndi is the application of Henna as a temporary form of skin decoration in South Asia, the Southwest Asia, North Africa and the Horn of Africa, as well as by expatriate communities from these areas. Mehndi decorations became fashionable in the West in the late 1990s, where they are sometimes called henna tattoos. In Kerala henna is known as mylanchi and widely used by the Muslim community. Henna is typically applied during special occasions like weddings and festivals. It is usually drawn on the palms and feet, where the color will be darkest because the skin contains higher levels of keratin which binds temporarily to lawsone, the colorant of henna. Henna was used as a form of decoration mainly for brides.

The term henna tattoo is inaccurate, because tattoos are defined as permanent surgical insertion of pigments underneath the skin, as opposed to pigments resting on the surface. Likely due to the desire for a "tattoo-black" appearance, many people have started adding the synthetic dye PPD to henna to give it a black color. PPD is extremely harmful to the skin and can cause severe allergic reactions resulting in permanent injury or death.

Process : Henna paste is usually applied on the skin using a plastic cone or a paint brush, but sometimes a small metal-tipped jacquard bottle used for silk painting (a jac bottle) is used. The painted area is then wrapped with tissue, plastic, or medical tape to lock in body heat, creating a more intense colour on the skin. The wrap is worn overnight and then removed. The final colour is reddish brown and can last anywhere from two weeks to several months depending on the type of the paste.

Tradition : Intricate patterns of mehndi are typically applied to brides before wedding ceremonies. The bridegroom is also painted in some parts of India, Bangladesh and Sudan for bridegrooms to be painted as well. In Rajasthan (north-west India), the grooms are given designs that are often as elaborate as those for brides.

In Arabic speaking countries such as Morocco, and some other countries in central Asia, it is done for any special occasion. It is done during the seventh month of pregnancy, after having the baby, weddings, engagements, family get-togethers, divali, as well as on other occasions.

With a smile and wink, the outgoing President of the United States turns his amusing, friendly charm to a new audience.

These aren't the fierce stares of a combative congress or the confused faces of foreign dignitaries, but children invited to a special Christmas play at the White House.

However it wasn't clear who was more excited to meet the other - the children trying to concentrate on the play or the President more interested in making friends with the audience.

The special White House visit was organised for children whose parents will be away for Christmas as their parents are serving in the U.S. military.

They were treated to an inside look of the Presidential home and enjoyed a Christmas-themed play, as as well as a sing-a-long organised by ministers of the Sweet Heaven Kings of the United House of Prayer For All People.

But it was the winking President who gained the attention of the crowd, bringing out the enjoyable clownish persona which has kept the world amused even during the most serious situations.

There’s a part of us, deep down, that enjoys looking at the somewhat negative effects that plastic surgery can wreak on the human visage. Just as some people slow down on the road when they pass a car accident, so do we stop and stare when we observe the car-crash results of plastic surgery gone wrong.

For some reason, this surgery-obsessed Korean woman decided to take it upon herself to INJECT COOKING OIL INTO HER OWN FACE. The story was that after many surgeries, doctors would refuse to operate on her more, yet somehow she found a doctor not only willing to inject her with silicone, but to give her her very own face-injection kit so she could do it at home. Upon running out of silicone to inject, she – naturally – settled for cooking oil. I can imagine it now: “Damn, out of silicone. What to use? Hmmm…Bleach? Nah. Toilet water? Better not. I know! The cooking oil I use to make food with!” She might as well have just injected that morning’s breakfast into her face, for all the good it did her.

You might have seen this thing before, but it was impossible to pass it up. Born Jocelynnys Dayannys da Silva Bezerra (but also known as “Cat Woman” and “The Bride of Wildenstein”), she’s a wealthy socialite that was once married to Alec Wildenstein, an important businessman with a love of exotic animals. Brother of the late famous Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace and a fashion designer herself, it’s a pity that Donatella couldn’t design her own face, or – depending on your opinion of the clothes she makes – maybe that’s a good thing.

Also known by his Native American name of Stalking Cat, this man has undergone incredible extensive surgery in order to look like his totem animal, the tiger. Modifications include: extensive tattooing, transdermal implants to allow whiskers to be worn, subdermal implants to change the shape of the face and the filing and shaping of the teeth to make them look more like a tiger’s.
